The Indian women’s cricket team will kickstart their campaign in the Women’s Asia Cup on Sunday (August 30) as they aim to regain their title after losing the crown in 2024 after suffering a defeat to Sri Lanka. The Women in Blue are the most successful team in the competition’s history, with seven titles to their name in nine editions.
The 10th edition will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the Dubai International Stadium set to host all games. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side are in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan as well as associate countries Thailand and Hong Kong.
Interestingly, this marks the start of two continental cricket events in the space of a month for the women’s cricket team in Asia. Immediately after the final on 13th September, the teams will fly to Japan for the 2026 Asian Games, where the women’s cricket event will take place from 17th to 22nd September. India are the defending champions at the mega event, which will take place at the Korogi Sports Park.
