A six-year-old girl who went missing from her home in Greater Noida’s Haldoni village was found dead in a field, with police suspecting murder. The accused was allegedly captured on CCTV carrying the child’s body in a sack after the killing.
The girl went missing from her home on Friday, August 28, following which her family approached the EcoTech-3 police station and lodged a complaint. Police formed five teams to search for her and began examining CCTV footage from the area.
During the investigation, police reportedly identified a suspect through CCTV footage and other evidence. The suspect has since been taken into custody and is being questioned.
According to investigators, CCTV footage shows the accused allegedly taking the child with him. In another sequence, he is seen carrying on his shoulder the same sack in which the girl’s body was later recovered.
Police subsequently found the child’s body in a field in the Haldoni area and sent it for post-mortem examination.
The examination is being conducted by a panel of doctors and is being videographed, officials said.
A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team and senior police officers also inspected the spot where the body was recovered. Investigators are now trying to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the child’s death and determine the motive behind the alleged murder.
Police are also examining all possible angles in the case, including whether the child was sexually assaulted before being killed. Officials said the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, the movements of the accused and the events leading to the recovery of the body are being investigated.
The incident has triggered fear and anger in Haldoni village, with the girl’s family demanding justice. Police said further legal action would follow based on the questioning of the suspect and evidence gathered during the investigation.
DCP Central Noida Shailendra Singh said the investigation was underway and teams were working to establish all facts surrounding the child’s death.
The post-mortem report is expected to provide crucial evidence about the cause and circumstances of the child’s death. Police said no conclusion would be drawn until the forensic and medical findings are available.
