Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday (August 26) announced a series of welfare measures aimed at strengthening women’s security, education, and self-reliance. The major launches by the state government include fellowship assistance for PhD aspirants, deployment of Police Didis with 4,700 two-wheeler vehicles to ensure the safety of girl students near educational institutions, and monetary assistance for those inclined towards entrepreneurship.
To promote higher education and entrepreneurship among women, the state government has announced a fellowship amount of Rs 10,000 per month to pursue a PhD for 1,000 women, while assistance ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh for startups has been initiated for 2,100 women.
“To increase the presence of daughters in the field of higher education and research, the ‘Chief Minister Balika PhD Fellowship’ scheme has been launched. Now, researcher sisters will receive ₹10,000 per month in financial assistance, enabling them to take their research to new heights without any economic barriers,” his latest tweet reads.
Police Didi, Employment Scheme And New Women’s University Among Key Initiatives
At the same time, under the “Police Didi” scheme for women’s safety, security for girl students around schools and colleges will be ensured through approximately 2,700 scooters and over 2,000 motorcycles across the entire state of Bihar. “The deployment of Police Didis in schools and colleges will further strengthen the safety of female students and women,” the CM said in his tweet.
Under the Prosperous Women – Prosperous Bihar Campaign, he announced that one crore women will be provided employment, 60 lakh women will join animal husbandry, 25 lakh in manufacturing, and 15 lakh in the service sector.
CM Samrat also added that 600 crore rupees will be transferred among 5 lakh sisters under the Chief Minister Employment Scheme.
In addition, a “Women’s University” will be established, allowing female students of the state to receive higher education. “From professors to vice-chancellors and all positions, only women will take on responsibilities,” the tweet reads.
“This university will give new skies to the dreams of Bihar’s daughters, where along with education, leadership will be promoted, along with skills, confidence, and along with knowledge, self-reliance,” it added.
