Thiruvonam is the one day in the year when the spirit of Onam truly comes to life. People dress up their homes in the most beautiful flowers, hang and lay out banana leaves for the grand Sadya, families come together to have the same meal and Kerala official slips into its best festive mood. This year, Thiruvonam falls on August 26, Wednesday and it officially marks the culmination of the 10-day traditional Onam festivities that begin with Atham.
