New Delhi: A 31-year-old M.Sc Physics student of IIT Delhi died after allegedly falling from the Lecture Hall Complex building on the institute’s campus early Saturday morning, police said.
According to police, the student entered the IIT Delhi campus through the main gate at around 8 am on August 22. He then went to the Lecture Hall Complex and took a lift to the sixth floor before falling from the front side of the building.
A PCR call regarding the incident was received at Kishangarh Police Station at around 8:33 am.
Police personnel reached the spot and took the injured student to the IIT Delhi campus hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
A crime team and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team were called to the spot to examine the scene and collect evidence. Police said no injury marks other than those consistent with the fall have been found so far. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot.
A mobile phone found in the student’s possession has been seized and will be examined as part of the investigation. Police are also obtaining the student’s counselling records and other relevant information from IIT Delhi to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
