Democratic socialism gains visibility
According to the August poll, 23.3% of likely voters now consider themselves supporters of the Democratic Socialists of America. It’s worth noting that being a supporter of the ideology and being an actual DSA member aren’t the same thing. New York Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, for instance, is a member of the group, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who openly calls himself a democratic socialist, is not.
