BTS’ Jungkook was among several wealthy South Koreans targeted by a sophisticated hacking organisation that stole assets worth billions of won. The group allegedly obtained personal information through overseas hacking operations before using it to access victims’ bank accounts, cryptocurrency wallets and other financial assets. Jungkook’s HYBE shares, valued at approximately 8.4 billion KRW, were also targeted in the scheme. However, HYBE acted quickly after detecting the suspicious activity and suspended transactions, preventing an actual financial loss. Now, the Seoul Central District Court has sentenced the Chinese ringleader, identified as A, to 20 years in prison in the first trial.
