In an exclusive conversation with Times Now Digital, Harish Bijoor, Business & Brand Strategy Guru & Founder, Harish Bijoor Consults Inc. had earlier stated no one leadership style can continue forever, “each business era demands a different kind of leadership. In fact leadership is a response to challenges. No one leadership style is forever and should not be as well. Leadership morphs. With the Tata enterprise in view, the style of JRD Tata was a different one as opposed to that of Ratan Tata. Cyrus Mistry brought in a different approach as did N Chandrasekaran. That is the beauty of new leadership. My recently concluded study on leadership styles indicates that every 7 years demands a different style of leadership. Few organisations understand this need. Many stay stuck in one style and hesitate to change. To their peril. Many believe that “if it ain’t broken, why fix it”? I don’t believe Noel Tata will attempt to follow any one style. The new Chairman of Tata Sons can be from within or outside the Group. Whoever it is, will need to bring in a new approach to the new challenges ahead of the Tata Group. This is going to be a new- investment deep era for the Tata Group. This goes for investments in terms of routes to markets, people, technology, energy and money included. It is also going to be an era of disinvestment. What must you get out of is going to be a key question at the doorstep of the new leader.”
