Israel carried out eight airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur airbase in northwestern Syria on Tuesday, targeting the runway and storage facilities, according to Syrian state media. The strikes drew condemnation from Turkey and criticism from the US special envoy for Syria, who described them as an “unnecessary escalation”.
