According to Dr. Arun Baby, Senior Consultant, Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, Apollo Adlux Hospital, Sjögren’s occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks moisture-producing glands. “Sjögren’s disease causes the body’s own defense mechanism to attack the glands in charge of the production of moisture. Aside from causing dryness and difficulty in swallowing dry food, the disease can cause some other problems too,” he said.
