Bengaluru: A woman was attacked and robbed of her 25-gram mangalsutra by two men riding a motorcycle near Doddabidarakallu in Bengaluru’s Peenya area early on Wednesday morning. The incident, which took place around 5:10 am, was captured on a CCTV camera.
The victim, identified as Vijayamma, was reportedly walking towards a nearby shop when the two accused approached her on a bike. CCTV footage shows the men initially waiting at a spot before following the woman after apparently finding the right opportunity to strike.
According to the footage, the pillion rider suddenly got off the motorcycle and rushed towards Vijayamma before attempting to snatch the mangalsutra from her neck. The woman resisted and tried to hold on to her chain, but the accused allegedly dragged her to the ground and attacked her before fleeing with the jewellery.
Vijayamma sustained injuries to her face and neck during the struggle. After the accused escaped on the motorcycle, she could be seen shouting for help.
The CCTV footage, which captures the entire sequence of the robbery, is now being examined by the police. Peenya police have registered a case and launched a search for the two accused. Authorities are also working to identify the motorcycle and the suspects involved in the incident.
In a tragic road accident on the outskirts of Bengaluru, a 32-year-old EPF employee lost her life after falling from a moving motorcycle and being run over by a goods vehicle. The incident has also sparked concerns over the condition of the city’s roads, with local residents alleging that an unrepaired pothole may have caused the motorcycle to lose balance.
The victim, identified as Medha, a Kerala native who worked as an EPF employee, was travelling as a pillion rider with her friend Ajay Guru near Anantanagar in Hebbagodi. The motorcycle reportedly lost control while they were riding through the area, causing Medha to fall onto the road.
In the moments that followed, a goods vehicle travelling behind the motorcycle approached the spot. Before Medha could be moved to safety, the vehicle reportedly ran over her. She suffered fatal injuries and died at the spot.
