Reacting to PM Modi’s ‘Chip se ship tak sab kuch yahin banega’ remark, the All India Students’ Association (AISA) said in a post on ‘X’, “We want that too. But today India is packaging chips, not yet commercially fabricating them at scale, and our global shipbuilding share is still below 1%.”
The tweet further said, “Vision is welcome; PR cannot be a substitute for industrial reality.”
PM Modi’s ‘Chips to Ships’ remark came during IIT Delhi’s 57th Convocation, where he presented the institute’s top honours, including the President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal and Perfect Ten Gold Medals, to meritorious students.
Congratulating the students and their families on their academic milestones, Modi highlighted that their degrees represent much more than academic success, serving as a mandate to contribute to the nation, according to PTI.
He extended special praise to the medal recipients and celebrated the launch of new AI initiatives at the institute.
“You are stepping out from here with a dream of doing a lot for the country,” he said.
“You must absolutely have a lot of satisfaction from this remarkable journey and the enthusiasm of starting a completely new chapter in life,” he added.
‘Everything from Chips to Ships Will be Manufactured Here’: PM Modi
Highlighting the innovations being made by the young generation, PM Modi said, “Today, our youth are building their own launch vehicles, launching rockets, and achieving feats that only a few countries in the world have achieved. I am confident that somewhere today, a young engineer in our country is proudly saying, ‘First in my bloodline to build a rocket.’”
“I firmly believe that everything from chips to ships will be manufactured here, by your own hands. And somewhere, a young person is confidently saying, ‘First in my bloodline to make a chip in India,’” he remarked.
