However, there were a few changes to Jean in Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Sink was happy to get Jean’s backstory with her older sister Sara (Olivia Booth-Ford), but she had many conversations with Cretton about exploring an angry young teenager who was in pain. She stated, “They told me that I was the villain, but that you’re not actually the villain, which is how I played her. I don’t really want to lean into, like this bad guy aura. Because in her brain it’s totally justified.”
