According to the weather department, heavy rain is likely in Kolkata, Jhargram, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and Bankura until Saturday. Very heavy rainfall is expected in Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur and South 24 Parganas during the same period. The IMD said increased moisture from the sea, along with an active monsoon, is also likely to cause heavy rainfall in the sub-Himalayan districts of West Bengal from Saturday.
