Weeks After Opening, Rs 4,200 Crore UP Expressway Damaged By Rain; Electric Fans Deployed For Repairs | WATCH

High-powered electric fans have been deployed on the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway to dry the waterlogged roadbed after a section of the newly inaugurated highway developed a major slip following heavy rainfall. The fans are being used to remove moisture from the soil beneath the damaged stretch before repair work can begin. Meanwhile, traffic in both directions has been diverted through a single carriageway, leading to congestion. The expressway, inaugurated on July 13 at a cost of around Rs 4,200 crore, suffered damage within weeks of opening, raising concerns over its construction quality. The incident has also triggered a political row, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav questioning the repair method and criticising the BJP government after sharing images of the fans on social media.
