The 1,055-kilometre highway, estimated to cost about $1 billion, is designed to connect Europe with West Africa through the Atlantic corridor. Morocco views the project as a key part of its ambition to become a major trade and logistics hub by improving transport links, reducing freight costs, enhancing road safety, and shortening travel times for goods moving between Europe, Morocco, and West Africa.
