Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat passed away on August 4, 2026, due to blood cancer. He was 74 and reportedly breathed his last at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Pradeep’s manager confirmed his demise. He is survived by his wife and son Vikramaditya. Pradeep’s last rites were held in Mumbai earlier this afternoon (August 5), where many celebrities, including Aamir Khan and other cast members from Lagaan, came to mourn his demise. Aamir looked emotional at the funeral of the Ghajini actor. Yashpal Sharma, Akhilendra Mishra, and Daya Shankar Pandey also arrived at the last rite of Pradeep Rawat, who played the role of Deva Singh Sodhi in Lagaan.

Aamir Khan attended the last rite at the crematorium in Mumbai. He looked visibly emotional while bidding adieu to his old friend and co-actor of his many films like Lagaan, Sarfarosh, Ghajini and so on.

Raj Arjun, who is known for his role in Secret Superstar, attended Pradeep Rawat’s funeral in Mumbai. Daya Shankar Pandey, Akhilendra Mishra and Yashpal Sharma also paid their emotional tributes to their Lagaan co-star. Ashoke Pandit was also there at the last rite.

Pradeep’s son Vikramaditya broke down in tears while bidding adieu to his father. While speaking with the media, Vikramaditya revealed that he had been admitted to the hospital for a while due to blood cancer. “He was showing improvement, but his platelets dropped yesterday to 60,000. The doctors gave him CPR, but he eventually passed away. He must be in a better place now. Many people came for his last rite,” Pradeep Rawat’s son added.

Pradeep Rawat shared screen space with Salman Khan as well. He took to his Instagram story and shared a picture from the film, Baaghi (1990). He wrote, “Shared many good moments with you brother.. May you rest in peace.” (sic)

On the other hand, Aamir Khan told Variety India that Pradeep Rawat was extremely dedicated and fearless as an actor. He said, “I think this was one of the most striking screen villains in our cinema. The film wouldn’t have worked without him. I don’t think anyone could have played Sodhi with such swag. He was a versatile actor. It’s sad to hear of his passing.” (sic)

Pradeep Rawat had worked in various films made in languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, English, Nepali and so on. He had also acted in TV shows like Mahabharat, Chandrakanta, Tehkikaat, Yug, Gul Sanobar and so on.
