Professional pickleball returns to Vietnam this week, with the MB Ho Chi Minh City Open running August 6 to 9 at a newly built sports complex inside The Global City in Ho Chi Minh City.
The tournament carries PPA Asia 500 status, offering a $70,000 prize purse and 500 ranking points across five professional categories. Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
Hong Kit Wong headlines the Men’s Singles draw as the top seed, while Yufei Long leads the Women’s Singles field. Both divisions feature several of Asia’s highest-ranked players, setting up one of the strongest fields on this year’s PPA Asia calendar.
Several of Asia’s leading players will also reunite in the doubles events, where familiar partnerships and new combinations are expected to shape the title races. In Men’s Doubles, Eunggwon Kim and Hong Kit Wong hold the top seed, ahead of Robert Stirling and Kenta Miyoshi at No. 2. Women’s Doubles top seeds Yufei Long and Andie Dikosavljevic pair up together, while Mixed Doubles is led by Nok Yiu Tang and Eunggwon Kim.
Winners across the board will earn $2,000 in singles and $5,500 per team in doubles, along with 500 ranking points. Even a Round of 16 finish carries $195 in singles and $420 per team in doubles, giving players outside the top seeds a genuine financial reason to compete deep into the draw.
The venue itself is part of the story here. The New Sports Club sits inside a 117-hectare development, featuring international-spec outdoor courts with more than 300 seats alongside a fully climate-controlled indoor arena, a level of infrastructure among the most impressive venues on this year’s PPA Asia Tour.
With qualifying complete and the main draw featuring many of the tour’s top names, the MB Ho Chi Minh City Open promises to be one of the biggest PPA Asia events of the season.
Play begins Thursday, August 6, with the Pro finals expected to close out the event on August 9.
