The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), India’s apex automobile industry body, has found itself at the centre of a controversy after first warning the government that E20 petrol could be linked to corrosion and failure of vehicle components, only to withdraw that communication days later, saying the data cited required further authentication.
