The Bombay High Court on Monday questioned the Mumbai Police over its handling of the death of Disha Salian, asking why no FIR was registered despite her father expressing suspicion about the circumstances of her death. The court asked, “If Disha Salian’s father had raised suspicion regarding her death, why was no FIR registered? Why was only an Accidental Death Report (ADR) filed? What prevented the police from conducting a proper investigation into the case?”
Disha Salian, who was the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad. Following an inquiry, the police concluded that it was a case of suicide.
However, Disha’s father, Satish Salian, filed a petition last year alleging that his daughter was gang-raped and later murdered. Through advocate Nilesh Ojha, he has urged the court to direct the registration of an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray and order a CBI investigation into the case.
The matter came up for hearing before the Bombay High Court, which sought answers from the Mumbai Police regarding the absence of an FIR despite the allegations raised by the petitioner.
