raj shamani breaks down 'two mindsets' that drive extraordinary success

Entrepreneur and content creator, Raj Shamani has shared his thoughts about what actually sets high achievers apart. Through his latest LinkedIn post, he argues that people who accomplish meaningful things in life or their goals often belong to either of the two groups.

There are only two kinds of people who end up doing something important and impactful with their lives and these individuals are complete opposites.

According to Shamani, the first group of people are those without any safety nets. They do not have any choice in life, but to work hard due to the circumstances around them. “Life put them in a position where figuring it out was the only option available,” he said.

He explains that for such individuals, success transforms from being just a goal to necessity. Their efforts come from the need to overcome difficult situations.

The second group of people are those who have the financial security and support, yet they choose to push themselves. Instead of being satisfied and comfortable with what they have, they aim high expectations for themselves and continue to strive for improvement. “They could take it easy, and nobody would blame them. But they hold high self-standards because they can’t stand the idea of being anything less than their best,” he writes.

One Drive by Pride, Other by Pressure

At first glance, both of these types of individuals do not have anything in common as one is driven by pressure and the other by pride, personal discipline and ambition. But when looked in deeper, it can be observed that they are running on the same thing.

Both the individuals removed the need of being ‘good enough’ from the table. For the second individual, character did, while for the first person, circumstances did. Neither of them chose the option to be mediocre or at peace with it.

He concludes his post as he says “It was never fundamentally about hardship or privilege or drive. It was about whether the average is available as a comfortable place to stop.” The post highlights that even if people’s backgrounds differ, the common commitment to put efforts and refuse to settle for mediocrity plays a crucial role in accomplishing one’s goal.
