The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM) has announced plans to launch an AI-First Online MBA Programme for the working professionals. The proposed programme will come into action after receiving approval from the Academic Council of IIM Calcutta.
According to the institute, the programme will award the same Master of Business Administration degree as IIM Calcutta’s flagship on-campus Post Graduate Programme. Students enrolled in this programme will also receive full lifetime alumni status.
The proposed programme has been developed under the leadership of IIM Calcutta Directors Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Prof. Saravana Jaikumar, Associate Professor at IIM Calcutta, led the programme’s design and the Institute’s wider online education portfolio.
The programme’s curriculum will include dedicated AI courses in both years, along with AI-based applications embedded across functional subjects such as finance, marketing and operations. Students will also participate in three AI Labs, where they will work on live industry projects and present their work to juries of academics and industry professionals.
Flexible Structure for Working Professionals
The programme will run across six terms for over two years, with the flexibility provided to complete in up to three. It includes over 600 hours of credit-bearing classroom instruction, a heavier academic load than comparable blended MBA degrees in India, IIM Calcutta Online MBA stands different in delivering an online degree.
The first year will focus on core management subjects, which will be common to all students, while the second year will offer a wide range of electives allowing students to specialise based on their career goals.
Classes will be conducted live online from Thursday to Sunday through weekday evening and weekend morning sessions, enabling participants to continue their full-time jobs.
Who is Eligible for This Programme?
The proposed programme is open to graduates from any discipline with at least three years of full-time work experience, although candidates with five or more years of experience will be given preference. Admission will be done through a valid CAT, GMAT or GRE score, followed by a personal interview.
According to the official press release, details regarding programme fees, batch size, admission schedule and the international partner institution will be announced after the approval is granted from the Academic Council.
