The US Department of Justice has subpoenaed records from a freelance journalist who contributed to a New York Times investigation into a 2025 US military operation in North Korea, according to the newspaper. Freelance journalist Matthew Cole received the subpoena in February from federal prosecutors in Virginia, seeking access to more than two years of his professional notes as well as his testimony, The New York Times reported.
