The strike hit a residential neighbourhood in Qeshm City during the early hours of Thursday. An analysis by The New York Times, based on satellite imagery, videos from the scene and expert assessments, suggested the weapon used was likely a 2,000 pound Mark 84 bomb, one of the largest conventional bombs in the US arsenal.
