Ankush Panghal continued his purple patch and became the second boxer, after Preeti Pawar, to guarantee India a silver medal in boxing. He defeated Canada’s Joshua Ofori in a one-sided semi-final and defeated him 5-0 in the men’s 80kg. Ankush outboxed Joshua in the first two rounds. Joshua launched an all-out attack but his heroics went in vain. Ankush will now be in action in the final on Saturday (August 1). A win in the final will see him win his first gold at the CWG.
