A senior Pentagon official who was secretly recorded criticising President Donald Trump is no longer employed by the US Department of the Navy, according to the department’s civilian leader. Brandon Newsom, the former head of business operations for the Department of the Navy, was placed on administrative leave earlier this week after hidden-camera footage appeared to show him calling Trump a “textbook narcissist” and saying he hoped to reverse some of the administration’s policies within the Pentagon.
