Internet services have been suspended in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur for around two days following student protests in the city. The suspension began at 12 noon on July 24 (Friday) and will remain in effect till 10 am on July 26 (Sunday). Officials have suspended internet connection to prevent the spread of rumours and maintain law and order in the region amid the ongoing protests led by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), according to a PTI news agency report.
Police Register FIRs, Announce Reward
Senior Superintendent of Police Kantesh Kumar Mishra said students have the right to protest peacefully, and police were deployed to ensure their safety. However, he said damaging public property and using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Thursday’s protest were unacceptable, PTI reported.
“While student protests are a fundamental right and the police have been deployed to ensure their security, the destruction of public property and the use of abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Thursday’s agitation are unacceptable. FIRs have been registered against the students allegedly involved in the violence,” Mishra said.

The police have registered FIRs against students allegedly involved in the violence. They have also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for anyone who provides information that helps identify those responsible. Police said the identity of the informant will be kept confidential.
“Furthermore, the police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for anyone providing information leading to the identification of these individuals, assuring that the informant’s identity will be kept strictly confidential,” he told PTI news agency.
Security Tightened Across City
The Muzaffarpur Police have been put on high alert following the protests. Magistrates and additional police personnel have been deployed at major intersections across the city to prevent any further unrest.
Police are also using drones to keep a close watch on the situation and monitor the movement of protesters. Authorities said the measures have been taken to maintain peace and ensure public safety.
Officials have urged people to cooperate with the administration and avoid spreading unverified information on social media. The situation is being closely monitored, and further action will be taken based on developments.
