Iran’s Military Command Draws the Line at the Strait
According to the New York Times, Khatam al Anbiya Central Headquarters, the body that coordinates operations across Iran’s armed forces, said Wednesday that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and that any ship attempting to pass through must follow a specific route and set of procedures that Tehran has already laid out. The headquarters, in a statement carried by Iran’s state broadcaster, said that if the U.S. follows through on its threats against bridges and power plants, Iran would respond by preventing even a single drop of oil from leaving the region, and would go after oil, gas, electricity and other economic infrastructure throughout the area. The statement added that continued American threats would only widen the war across the region and beyond.
