Minecraft Creator Sparks Debate After Claiming AI Will Replace Human Developers

Notch stated that it was hard to find talented human developers to work with and in the long run, he wouldn’t feel bad if he had to fire an AI agent. He said, ‘I’ve been having a lot of trouble hiring talented programmers, and I’ll probably feel less bad about firing a chatbot.’ For those unaware, Notch created Minecraft in 2009, and it gained a lot of popularity in the coming years. He sold Minecraft and his game studio Mojang to Microsoft for $2.5 billion. Following that, he founded another gaming studio dubbed Bitshift Entertainment, and he is currently working on a game dubbed Levers and Chests. As per his comments, it looks like the studio has failed to find human coders and may now be focusing on deploying AI agents for coding.
