New Delhi: The 21-year-old woman who was critically injured during the protest-related incident in Delhi and had been on ventilator support at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital has shown encouraging clinical improvement, the hospital said in a health bulletin on Wednesday.
According to the bulletin, the patient has been successfully extubated and is now breathing on her own. She is conscious and responding appropriately to commands. Her MRI of the brain and spine has returned normal results.
The hospital said her clinical condition has been showing steady improvement since the initiation of treatment and that she continues to receive comprehensive medical care under the close supervision of the treating team.
RML Hospital also clarified that she is presently the only patient admitted to the facility in connection with the reported protest incident. All necessary treatment and continuous monitoring are being provided, the bulletin said.
This comes after leaders across party lines, Union Minister JP Nadda, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, and Congress Leader and Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi, reached RML Hospital to meet the injured protesters.
Thousands of people assembled at Jantar Mantar on Monday for the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.
The protest turned violent after demonstrators attempted to march towards Parliament, prompting Delhi Police to use lathicharge and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Both protesters and police personnel sustained injuries, with each side accusing the other of triggering the violence.
Despite the confrontation, protesters have returned to Jantar Mantar and continue their agitation. They are pressing for three key demands: the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, Rs 1 crore compensation for the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide following the paper leak, and the withdrawal of FIRs registered against those who participated in the protest.
