The government on Monday faced a twin challenge, both in the Parliament and outside on the streets. As the first day of the Monsoon Session commenced, the opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha resorted to sloganeering, demanding the government’s accountability on issues like donation theft in the Ram Temple, NEET-UG paper leak, among other issues. While this was the scene in the Parliament, similar scenes were witnessed outside the Parliament during the Cockroach Janta Party’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march — without police permission — demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the paper leak.
While the Parliament saw the adjournment of both Houses, outside the Sansad, scenes were witnessed showing a clash between the Cockroach Party’s protesters and police personnel, in which reportedly multiple protesters and cops were injured.
Call For Revolution Rising, Says Akhilesh Yadav
Speaking on the Cockroach Party’s protest, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav hit out at the government over the alleged crackdown, saying the “anger is visible now” as the “call for revolution is rising”. He also mentioned that they will raise this issue in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday along with the Ram Temple donation theft issue.
“We witnessed the conduct of the government and the police, the use of lathis and tear gas, and the way police personnel in plainclothes treated the students and youth… The government did not anticipate that students and the youth would turn out in such large numbers. This represents a massive failure, and it is precisely because of this failure that people have gathered here… For years, the government has been playing with the future of students and the youth,” Yadav said.
Speaking further, Akhilesh Yadav said, “That very anger is visible now; the call for revolution is rising, and a sense of solidarity is evident. That is why the country’s youth are present here in such vast numbers. We will raise the incident that occurred today in the Lok Sabha tomorrow… The government must clarify its stance regarding the Ram Mandir donation controversy. The theft of offerings, donations, and contributions is shameful; it is a grave sin. Who will answer for this grave sin? The government must step forward to address it.”
Dimple Yadav Joins CJP’s Protest, Calls Crackdown ‘Black Day For Democracy’
Akhilesh’s wife and Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, who participated in the CJP protest, condemned the police action against students at Jantar Mantar, calling it a “black day for democracy” and demanding the removal of Dharmendra Pradhan.
Alleging that students were beaten, their clothes torn, and excessive force used during the protest, Dimple said the Opposition would raise the issue in Parliament and hold the government accountable.
“Students have been beaten. Today will be remembered as a black day for democracy and for our history. Even you could see the shame in the eyes of some police personnel. Yet, in the line of duty, they removed their name badges and stepped forward. Some police officers behaved like goons. While some were cooperative, others arrived out of uniform and beat the students, even subjecting them to electric shocks. Contrary to the rule that force should be applied only to the legs, they struck students on their chests. Today, they have dealt a direct blow to the very heart of Mother India. We demand the removal of the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan,” she added.
The remarks came as the Monsoon Session of Parliament got off to a stormy start, with both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessing repeated disruptions over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya.
