GV Prakash is now a three-time National Award-winning music composer! After winning for Soorarai Pottru and Vaathi, he has been honoured with the 72nd National Film Award for the score of Amaran. After the winners’ list was announced, several South stars congratulated him on the achievement. His uncle and music maestro AR Rahman also penned a sweet note. Lauding his nephew’s dedication and passion towards the art, Rahman called it a proud moment for the family and said that they now have 10 National Awards between them. For those who may not know, Prakash Kumar is AR Rahman’s nephew. His mother, AR Reihana, is the music legend’s elder sister. Throughout his journey, Rahman has been a strong pillar of support and has mentored Prakash for a decade.
South stars congratulate GV Prakash
Lead actor Sivakarthikeyan congratulated the entire Amaran team on their achievements at the 72nd National Film Awards. He expressed pride in the film’s success and extended his heartfelt wishes to director Rajkumar Periasamy for winning Best Director, GV Prakash Kumar for being honoured for Best Music Direction (Background Score), and editor Kalaivanan for receiving the award for Best Editing.
He also congratulated Sun Pictures, Dhanush, Sathya Jyothi, Arun Matheswaran, Anl Arasu, Valentino Suren, Sachana Namidass, TS Hari Haran Sudhan, and Edmond Ranson for their National Award wins.

He called the honour a blessing and thanked the jury and selection committee for the recognition. He also extended his heartfelt thanks to producer Kamal Haasan for believing in him and giving him the opportunity to be part of the film.
