Rubio Warns of Rising Far Left Terrorism as US Launches Global Coalition

rubio warns of rising far left terrorism as us launches global coalition

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued a stark warning to representatives from more than 60 countries, saying far left political terrorism is becoming an increasingly serious global threat as the United States launched a new international coalition aimed at combating extremist violence.

Speaking at the State Department, Rubio cited incidents ranging from firebombings and fatal blackouts to politically motivated attacks, arguing that governments could no longer ignore what he described as a growing wave of ideological violence.

Rubio calls for united global action

Addressing officials attending the gathering, Rubio said the coalition was being established to strengthen international cooperation against politically motivated extremist groups.

“You are here because this is real and it is getting worse, and it can no longer be denied, and it can no longer be ignored because it is time to crush this evil forever,” Rubio said.

He stressed that the threat was neither new nor exaggerated, rejecting claims that concerns over left wing political violence were politically motivated.

Far left terrorism “not a modern novelty”

Rubio argued that left wing political extremism has historically been one of the world’s leading forms of political violence.

“The simple fact is, none of this that I’ve just described is new. Far left political terrorism is not a recent day modern novelty,” he said.

“It is not a fiction manufactured by conservative politicians. For most of the modern era, it was in fact the dominant form of political violence.”

The secretary said recent attacks around the world underscore the need for governments to cooperate more closely in confronting extremist networks before they become more entrenched.

New State Department coalition

According to Rubio, the new coalition will bring together governments to improve intelligence sharing, strengthen law enforcement cooperation and coordinate responses to politically motivated extremist violence.

While the State Department has not released full operational details, officials said the initiative is intended to enhance international collaboration against transnational extremist threats.

Focus on global security

Rubio’s remarks come as the Trump administration places greater emphasis on international security partnerships and counterterrorism initiatives.

By launching the coalition, Washington is seeking to encourage allied nations to coordinate efforts against extremist violence while expanding information sharing and joint security measures.

The announcement marks one of the administration’s latest efforts to strengthen international cooperation on security issues, with Rubio urging partner nations to treat politically motivated terrorism as a shared global challenge rather than an isolated domestic issue.
