Veteran actress Zeenat Aman informed her followers about Wangchuk’s plight and asked the government to begin peaceful dialogue with him. Actors Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah urged Wangchuk to end his hunger strike and take care of his health. They were part of several Indian personalities who shared an official statement asking Wangchuk to call off the strike. The statement said, “This battle is a marathon, not a sprint, and we need you, your strength and leadership in the days to come.” Actors Abhay Deol, Prakash Raj, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Rubina Dilaik, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, and Kunickaa Sadanand also posted in support of Wangchuk and asked their fans to read up on his condition.
