Forecasters say winds will begin pushing the thick smoke into the United States on Tuesday night, with air quality expected to become hazardous across parts of the Upper Midwest and Northeast on Wednesday. By Wednesday evening, the smoke is forecast to move through Green Bay, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Detroit and Buffalo, before reaching New York City and Providence, Rhode Island.
