Congress leader Rashid Alvi has questioned the timing and intent behind the ECI’s decision, linking it to the large-scale deletion of voter names during the SIR exercise. Alvi claimed that nearly 6 crore names have been deleted through the SIR process, and alleged that the ₹6,000 ‘reward’ to each BLO was announced by the ECI to keep them pleased.
