Balasore, Odisha: A shocking wildlife incident was captured on CCTV in Odisha’s Balasore district after a wild bear attacked two young men riding bicycles, leaving them injured and creating panic in the area.
The incident took place in the Nilgiri area when Rahul Singh and Santosh Singh were returning home to Ghatgarh Sahi from Nilgiri Market on their bicycles.
According to reports, the two youths suddenly heard the loud roar of a bear and stopped by the roadside. Moments later, a large bear emerged from nearby bushes and aggressively charged towards them.
Caught completely off guard, both cyclists lost control and fell into a roadside drain while trying to escape. They sustained minor injuries in the attack.
The terrifying incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, and the footage has now gone viral on social media.
After attacking the cyclists, the bear reportedly ran back into the nearby forest. The incident created panic among local residents, who fear further encounters with wild animals in the area.
Forest Department officials have been informed about the incident. Authorities are expected to monitor the movement of the bear and take the necessary measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.
The incident once again highlights the increasing cases of human-wildlife conflict in several parts of Odisha, where wild animals frequently enter human settlements in search of food and habitat.
