Legendary playback singer S Janaki will be accorded a state funeral in Mysuru on July 12 following her demise at the age of 88. The Karnataka government announced that she would receive full state honours in recognition of her unparalleled contribution to Indian music. Over a career spanning more than six decades, Janaki recorded over 48,000 songs across 20 languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Before the final rites, fans and admirers will have an opportunity to pay their last respects to the iconic singer.
