Thousands of cooking gas cylinders came bobbing down a swollen river in Maharashtra this week, an eerie sight thrown up by the state’s relentless rain. Extremely heavy rainfall in Raigad district swept away around 3,000 LPG cylinders from an HPCL bottling plant in Khalapur, with many of them later spotted floating downstream in the Patalganga River, prompting authorities to issue an urgent warning: ‘if you find one, don’t keep it’.
