Book Review: A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami

By the end, it becomes clear that the sheep is never just a sheep. It is a symbol of power, an all-consuming force that promises greatness but slowly possesses you. It represents an unquenchable hunger for influence, control and more, turning people into vessels for ambition rather than allowing them to remain themselves. While many see the sheep as a blessing, a mark that sets them apart from everyone else, the narrator remains strangely immune to its lure. Perhaps it is his indifference, his refusal to take life or himself too seriously, that prevents the sheep from gaining control over him.
