Scientists Develop Nasal TB Vaccine That Makes Antibiotics More Effective

Unlike conventional vaccines, this vaccine is delivered through the nose, allowing it to stimulate immune responses directly in the respiratory tract – the primary site where TB bacteria enter and infect the body. The vaccine is specifically designed to target TB persister bacteria, hard-to-kill bacteria that survive antibiotic treatment, remain dormant, and often trigger relapse after therapy ends.
