H-1B visa renewals in the United States are on track to reach their highest-ever level this financial year, even as President Donald Trump’s administration pushes for stricter rules governing the skilled worker program. According to an analysis by workforce analytics firm LayoffHedge using US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) data, 273,026 petitions for “continuing employment” had been approved during the first nine months of fiscal year 2026, which runs from October 2025 to September 2026.
