A dispute over a parking space outside a Walmart in North Lauderdale, Florida, turned deadly when a woman allegedly shot and killed 62-year-old Bart Diguglielmo on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the confrontation began as a verbal argument between the woman and Diguglielmo in the Walmart parking lot before escalating. Investigators said the woman pulled out a firearm and shot Diguglielmo once in the stomach.
Diguglielmo, a Lauderhill resident originally from New Jersey, was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Family members identified him as a retired US Army staff sergeant and former trauma nurse.
Video obtained by local media reportedly shows the pair arguing before the woman fired a single shot, causing Diguglielmo to fall to the ground. Another video circulating online appears to show the woman pointing a firearm at him during the confrontation while telling him to “walk away.”

Witness David Anderson said he heard the woman screaming before the shooting. The woman remained at the scene, cooperated with deputies and told investigators she acted in self-defense. She was not immediately arrested.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the case. Once the investigation is complete, it will be presented to the Broward State Attorney’s Office, which will decide whether criminal charges are warranted.
