On Wednesday, the victim’s mother who is also now a BJP MLA from Panihati — and her husband filed a petition before the Sealdah court seeking the arrest and custodial interrogation of former Panihati MLA Nirmal Ghosh, Somnath Das and local TMC functionary Sanjib Mukhopadhyay. The family alleged the three “hijacked the body,” tried to prevent a second post-mortem, and facilitated a hasty cremation without handing over necessary documents.
