Palantir CEO and co-founder Alex Karp has given some rather harsh statements against both Anthropic and OpenAI in a new interview with CNBC and called parts of the AI industry ‘effing insane.’ Karp said, ‘So the general way these things were sold… Sam (Altman, OpenAI co-founder) and Dario (Amodei, Anthropic co-founder), there’s nothing more fun than debating Dario in private. So I’m not throwing shade at them, but something has gone completely wrong.’ For those unaware, tokens are small units of text that AI models read and generate, with firms like Anthropic and OpenAI charging customers based on how many tokens they use.
