Escherichia coli, most often referred to as E. coli, is a group of bacteria that normally lives in the gut without causing harm. However, some strains can make people sick, causing gut and urinary tract infections. According to doctors, finding E. coli in the sinuses is rare but not impossible, especially in immunocompromised patients or those following trauma or poor hygiene.
