William Porterfield: Series Win Against India Bigger Than World Cup Victories vs Pakistan And England

Lorcan Tucker-led Ireland completed a historic 2-0 rout of India by winning the second and final T20I of the series in Belfast on Sunday (June 28). In challenging batting conditions in Belfast, where Ireland scored 154, India scored 153 to slump to a one-run defeat. The win in the first game was Ireland’s first-ever victory over India in any format and the series win was the cherry on top. For William Porterfield, the series win was bigger than Ireland’s wins over Pakistan and England in the 2007 and 2011 ODI World Cups, respectively. “As big a moment as these were on the journey of Irish cricket, this series win was bigger,” Porterfield told Sports Now in an exclusive chat after Ireland’s series win.
