Gone are the days when a temple visit used to be all about devotion and peace- based on the type of incidents that are coming forward from several hailed pilgrimages and even Dhams– temple visits in India have seemingly become more about music, hiking, social media reels and such. A video was recently shared on social media, which showed a group of men playing loud music while on their way to a temple. The video was recorded by a fellow devotee, who was hiking on the same path while on the way to the said temple in a forest area.
The devotee- a woman- had stopped for a while, which is when the group sitting near to her began to play movie songs on a loud speaker. Finally breaking her silence, the woman chose to speak up. Schooling the man sitting next to her over a lack of civic sense and over the group’s disregard towards the wild and the religious value of the place, the woman asked the man to stop the music.
The video immediately went viral, pulling many reactions. Most agreed with the woman and called her “brave” for confronting the group. Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post.

“Note: This guy’s actions are not reflective of ALL INDIANS (I AM INDIAN & proud of it) so please kindly do not show up on my post with racist nonsense b/c I’ll just refer to how people act after sports games they win and school shootings, mmkay. That being said, I swear that some people here are in an existential crisis and feel like if everyone doesn’t notice them, THEY DON’T EXIST,” the post read.
The post was shared on Instagram, by the handle ‘Smita Chand’. The post was shared yesterday and pulled many views from people.
Internet’s reaction:
“Most Indians go to pilgrimage as if it was a vacation,” a user said. “Every trek you see people with speakers in their hands. I mean you come to nature for what? To play music? I mean I want peace here, not karan aujla,” a user said. “It’s always them. And then they play victim,” added another person.
“We defend our country a lot, but sadly there are so many people in India who have no manners, no civic sense, they fight and even kill others over small issues! I am ashamed as an Indian!” added another person. “You’re so brave, I usually just get up and leave (a way of giving up honestly),” added another.
