Europe Heatwave Turns Deadly as Temperatures Top 40°C, Records Fall Across Continent

A relentless heatwave swept across Europe on Saturday, bringing scorching temperatures from Scandinavia to the Alps and contributing to dozens of deaths as it pushed eastward. Several countries witnessed record-breaking heat, with temperatures crossing 40°C (104°F) in some regions. Preliminary all-time temperature records were reported in Germany, Denmark and the Czech Republic, while Switzerland recorded its hottest June day on record. Earlier this week, France and the United Kingdom also experienced unprecedented June temperatures.
