CBSE Conducted Second Board Exam
For the first time, CBSE has introduced the Second Board Exams in Class 10. The exam was held in an offline (pen and paper) format from 15 May to 1 June 2026, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The results are awaited to be declared.
Why a Second Board Exam?
The Class 10 Second Board exam 2026 has been introduced to reduce exam pressure and provide students with an additional opportunity to improve their academic performance or clear subjects, which they could not during the main board examination.
What is the Best Performance Policy?
It follows the Best of Five Rules, which is an evaluation method of CBSE that considers the top-performing subjects.
How does this Policy Work?
If a student got 72 in Maths and 88 in Science in the main board exam and 90 in Maths, 81 in Science, and 84 in English in Exam 2, then CBSE will choose the highest marks achieved in each subject.
How is it Beneficial for Students?
The policy helps in reducing exam stress faced by the students, and provides them with another chance to show improvement, and also helps in boosting their confidence.
Who Should Appear for Second Exam?
Student(s) who want to improve their performance in one or more subjects or those who did not clear the main board exam may opt to sit for the second board exam.
Class 10 Main Board Exam Results Declared
Earlier, CBSE had announced the Class 10 Main Board (Phase 1) results for 2026 on 13th May, 2026. Students wanting to boost their marks sat the optional second board exam, and were awarded marks according to the Best Performance Policy.
